Photo from approx. 1900. The tower was black, painted with tar. Building to the right is the two story Light House Keeper's house.
The building next to tower was originally the Keeper's house, converted to storage and working area. The structure near the tower was a
'fog bell tower.' Photo retreived and copied by Daniel Scarcliff, Dauphin Island Sand Island LightHouse Preservation Committee, from the National Archives, Washington, DC
